Below you can see a number of films that have been made of the work over the years. Click on the image to start the movie.
In Wormer NH a small village near Amsterdam for decades the main industry was a large paper factory. The factory was demolished years ago, but 6 cast iron columns from this factory were preserved. As the factory played an important role in this village for years, the Historical Association Wormer invited artists to submit a proposal for a monument to this factory, using these 6 columns. Nouwens won the contest. He put the six columns together as an open base and on top of that he placed a huge ‘paper’ wad of stainless steel. In the video you can see the making of this sculpture.
Brettensuite (2015)
The video is a bike ride along all 20 images along the Brettenpad. The trail is about 12 kilometers long, starts in the Westerpark in the center of Amsterdam and goes westwards towards the outskirts of the city, in the direction of Haarlem.
A great bike- and hikingroute!
For more information see the PROJECT> Brettensuite button.
The cloak (2016)
Nouwens was invited to make a work for an exhibition in the Dom Church in Utrecht. The theme was Saint Martin, the patron saint of the church and of Utrecht. He made an abstracted coat of stainless steel, especially for a very high niche.
In the video you can see the spectacular placement of the sculpture.
Celler Sculpture Weeks (2018)
From 1-16 September 2018 Herbert participated in the Celler Skulpturwochen, in Celle, Germany. There he made the sculpture Der Strom. A fragile tower of stainless steel chunks of steel, eight meters high. He had already processed and bent this steel in the Netherlands. Two more artists participated in the symposium, Jörg Bach and Hermann Grüneberg.
The sculpture of Nouwens stands at the marina of Celle.
The Celler Skulpturwochen is an initiative of the Stiftung Heitland Foundation, which also awards an artist every year. In March 2019 a modest exhibition will be organized with small work by the three participating artists.
